About Sarah Hänggi

I am Sarah Hänggi, choir director and artistic director from Basel.
I conduct the Basler Beizenchor, the Kleinbasler Kammerchor and the choir of the Gymnasium Münchenstein.
For my choirs I write countless choral arrangements that shape the stylistic diversity of the ensembles.
Since 2019 I have been the artistic director of the enchanté Singing Festival Riehen, which brings together people and voices across generations, genres and borders every two years.
For over ten years I led the professional vocal ensemble Tradiophon, with which we performed late-romantic and contemporary vocal music as well as regular world premieres.
I have been involved in various music theatre projects: in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons I took on the choral direction for the production "Antigone" by Antú Romero Nuñes at Theater Basel. In 2018 I was already engaged at Theater Kampnagel Hamburg for the production "Abhängigkeitserklärung" by Benjamin Van Bebber and Leo Hofmann.
I worked for several years with the Interkantonaler Männerchor, the Basler Liedertafel and the Jugendchor Beider Basel.
I was founder and director of the Open Singing series "Markthall" at the Markthalle Basel.
I studied choral conducting and music education at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, complemented by advanced studies at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.
In 2022 I completed my training in sound engineering at Audiocation.
In 2018 I was awarded the Cultural Promotion Prize of the Canton of Solothurn for my conducting work.
